NIRMAN - Navi Mumbai Institute of Research was established on 15th Dec-1998 by Dr. Anil B. Jalan and his colleagues with a specific view of study and treatment of genetic and metabolic aspects of many neurological disorders in paediatric age group. Later other aspects of Genetic disorders e.g. Bad Obstetric History, Genodermatosis and Liver Disorders were also incoporated. The founder members - Dr. Anil B. Jalan is a Paediatrician and Neonatologist where as Dr. Mrs. Saroj A. Jalan, MD DVD is a Dermatologist (Skin Specialist).
Dr. Anil B. Jalan after completing Post Graduation in Paediatrics ( MD ) specialised in many aspects of Medical Genetics and Inborn Errors of Metabolism from various European Centers of excellence - University of Vienna - AKH ( Austria ), University of Graz - LKH ( Austria ), Neurometabolic Centre of Nijmegen ( Holland ), BIRD Inst. ( Italy ), AMC ( Amsterdam ) etc. etc. His expertise is in Clinical aspects and Lab aspects of :- Newborn Screening, Critically ill newborns, Mitochondriopathies, Peroxisomal Disorders, Lysosomal Storage Disorders, CDG syndromes, Neruo-Transmitter Metabolism defects, Paed. Movement disorders, Various Neurometabolic disorders and Molecular diagnosis of various genetic disorders. He has many publications to his credit and has presented papers in various national and international conferences.
